First, I have tried to run it on my old computer with Windows 10 Pro. I thought that maybe I have got some settings which are a problem to this installation. Then I tried to run it on a fresh Windows 10 Pro computer but have got same error. On both computers I have got local account. I am not a member of any domain. My account has got administrator privileges and is the only account I have. What can I do to install this Demo?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi rafi,

    Please follow this:

    1. Install Business Central without demo db

    2. Open SQL Server Management Studio and restore demo db

    3. Open BC Administration and setting db for instance

    4. Restart the instance

    5. Also check your Sql Service is running from services.msc

Let me know if this will not work for you.

Thank you for trying to help.

What do you mean by Install Business Central without demo db? Options I have got are:

    Get a free Online Trial

Get Business Central App from Microsoft Store

Advanced Installation Options and there are:

    Install Demo

Choose an installation option and there:

    Client ( Customize )

    Server ( Customize )

    Developr ( Customize )

    Custom ( Load Configuration )

If anybody have some suggestions for me on how to avoid this error during Demo installation, I am willing to hear and proceed.

This is what I have got during installation:

    2744.jpg4645.jpg1374.jpg

Choosing Install Demo causing me errors on 3 different laptops with Windows 10 Pro ( Dell Precision M6800, Dell Latitude L5500 and Dell Vostro ). The error is :

Windows Installer: Error: Service 'Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Server [BC130]' (MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$BC130) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
Done configuring package. Id = 'ServiceTier' ReturnCode = 1603

Someone suggested that I should install Business Central without Demo Database. What should I click to do that? After I click on Server I have got lots of options:

    Hi,

Looks like you have installed the demo and mid-tier.

The problem is your account (LIkely the on you showed in the screenshot ) failed to start Mid-tier.

There could be many reasons that mid-tier couldn't start.

Based on the log expression, have you setup your service account as Administrators for your machine/PC?

Using the default "Network Service" account to test/demo won't be a very bad ideal.

IF this machine is for yourself, no security concern, I would suggest also add it to SQL admin and NAV super once you obtain access.

    Regards

    Terry He

    Thank you.

When you say my account do you mean Windows Account or some kind of MSSQL Account?

I don't know where is my service account. I just freshly open the laptop, finished Windows 10 installation ( I have choose to use offline account rather than creating online Microsoft account ) and straight tried to install the Demo. During this installation there was no question about anything. No accounts, no passwords, just error at the end. On three diferent laptops.

The account seen on the screen was the one that was already there, I did not write anything there. In English it translate to MANAGEMENT NT/NETWORK SERVICE ( according to google translate, might not be perfect ).

So, do you know where I can find service account? I am willing to provide some more informations if I would know which kind of informations are neede. I am also willing to change Windows language to English it this is neccesary.

Follow these steps for installing Business Central without Demo DB:

    1. Run Setup

    2. Choose an Installation Option

    3. Custom

    4. Make "Not Available" -> SQL Server Database Component -> So Demo Database become unavailable for this installation

    5. Next

    6. In Specify parameters - go to "SQL Server Database Components" and make sure to keep blank all these 3 option:

      6.1. SQL Server

      6.2. SQL Server Database

      6.3. SQL Database

Note: if above 3 information already filled then please remove before applying for more info check below screenshot:

    7. Apply, and wait until the setup will completed.

    After Successful installation.

    Open SQL Server Management Studio(SSMS)

    - Make sure to install SQL Express

    - Connect to the local server

    - under database

    - right-click and choose to restore and goto the location of your Demo DB you can find this in your BC Setup folder path may look like:
    BusinessCentral\SQLDemoDatabase\CommonAppData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\130\Database\Demo Database NAV (13-0).bak

    - And restore this db

    ==================

After restoration: Open Business Central Administration

    Hello,

Usually it is a conflicting port or a settings in the setup that does conflict with each other. E.g. Selecting NavUserPassword with no thumbprint, etc.

    Furthermore:

    netsh http show urlacl

Look for entries that are related to the ports.... nav.domain.com:7048/bcinstance while you try to install with nav.domain.com:7048/bcinstance.

netsh http delete urlacl url=<<url as shown in the earlier output>>

With every try uninstall service tier fist and then reinstall with adjusted settings.

    Hope it does help.

    Hi tabrez ajaz,

I followed the procedure you've given, but when I restore the DB,  edit the DB information and restart the instance, the service did not start. And it prompts an error like ServerInstance 'MicrosoftDynamicsNAVServer$BC150' failed to reach status running due to the following error: 'Cannot start the service'.
