How long is deleted data stored before completely vanished from Microsoft servers?

Hello!

If I delete a contact from my Dynamics 365 online instance, how long will it be before that contact is completely gone from cyberspace?
Firstly I assume it will remain 7 days if an automated backup has captured the contact.
Secondly, do Microsoft keep the data longer somewhere on their servers? And for how long may that be?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks!

    Hi partner,

Once you deleted a record from instance, it will be directly deleted from the database in the server-side. So it will not stay on the internet.

And if you want to restore the deleted record, you should backup first before you delete it in your instance.

It doesn't stay in cyberspace Unless your browser has a delay in passing the delete command to the background program.

    Hope it helps.

    Best Regards,

    Leo

Isnt the contact still available in the automated backups?

Say I created a contact a week ago. I delete the contact today and then restore a backup from two days ago. Won't the contact reappear after the restoration is finished?

    Hi partner,
The deleted contact is truely in the backups.
Restoring a backup is able to resotre the deleted records, but this does not mean the deleted records still exist in the internet, just like database backup. And both manual backup and automated backup are retained for 28 days.

More information about backups, you could refer to this doc.

    Best regards,
