Lookup Field with custom Many to Many relationship in between

Hello, I have some trouble to get the right results in a lookup field. I’m wondering if this is possible with OOTB functionality

I have set up a manual NN relationship entity between Contacts and Account.

Under the Cases entity, I only want to see the Contacts from the Account I selected.

I experimented a bit with the Lookup fields. I can make a lookup field, showing all ‘Contact Account entity’ records with the selected Account. But this does not refer to the ‘Contact entity’ directly.

I can make a Lookup field referring to the ‘Contact entity’ but this shows all contacts, except when I select a Contact Account record in the Lookup field above.

How can I get the Lookup field to contacts without the 1st Lookup field?

Here I should be able to select Account (Accounts) in the ‘Contains field’ no?

Thank you

    Martijn,

If I understand you want the contact name. The lookup only gives you the "name" field of the intersecting entity.  One thing you could do is have the "name" field of the intersecting entity populate with the contact name on create. You would do that with a simple workflow. So then you would have the contact name in the intersecting entity. Of course you then have the issue if keeping that updated.

But if you want the specific filtered contact list as your lookup you may be able to do a custom filter on the lookup.  This requires javascript. Read here:

    Good luck!

    Hey Tom,

    Thank you for your answer.

I could populate the "Name" field with a combination of "Account" and "Contact".

    But

    Name: single line text

Account: lookup field (to account entity)

Contact: lookup field (to contact entity)

I can not convert from lookup value to single line or am I wrong?

Based on the Name field I could prefilter a second Lookup field for Contact.

    Thanks

Well if using intersect entity for lookup the name field will be used automatically for display. Filtering could be done using account.
