How does updating of licenses really work?

Hi all,
our setup:
  • We assign Users to Entra-License Groups (one for Premimum and one for Team Member license).
  • -> The users log in to the BC environment and can use their license.
In case a user gets a Team Member instead of a Premium license we just remove him fom the Premium Entra License Group and add him to the Team Member Entra License Group.
Up to know I thougt BC would realize this but now I am not sure anymore?
 
Do I really need to run the "Update users from Microsoft 365" function to update the license for the users?

    Yes you need to update the users from Microsoft 365

    Hi all, update:
     
    I figured out that licenses are correctly assigned (according to the Entra group) but not correctly displayed in BC.
    I.e. The Premium license is still displayed on the user but in reality the user has already Team member license and can not create a new item anymore.
    Updating it with "Update users from Microsoft 365" solves this.

    Every time you make a change on MS 365 user licenses, you have to execute the update process highlighted.
