Inventory adjustment on mass level

Hi all,

We have used items on our inventory that should not be there. Is there a way to execute a mass inventory adjustment for inventory dimension, style=used? What is the simplest way to go about this? We have 58 unique items with a lot of inventory all around the place.

Many thanks!!

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Croix

Your problem statement is vague. The best solution I can suggest is to use Counting journal. Build your query so the system will report your 58 items.

Make sure you counted value is set to 0.00 then the system will automatically write them off in Inventory and General ledger. All depending of Inventory costing method applied you may need to run an Inventory close before the value is truely zero.

Hi Anders, thank you very much for your response!

We thought of the counting journal, however, with 58 different items in many many different locations, with thousands of different serial numbers, that would take so long and be difficult to build.

I was wondering if there is another way to set a certain inventory dimension, which is style=used in our case, to 0 across all locations -without having to specify item A is in Location B with serial number C and so on in the counting journal?

    Thanks again!

Hi, you can use counting journal in combination with the excel add in.

    - Add all lines to the journal

    - Use the Excel Add In to open it.

    - Delete the lines that you are no interested in excel

    - Publish you excel so the counting journal only haves the items and configurations that you need

    - Set those quantities to whatever you need

    - Register the journal

    I hope that helps!

    Hi Croix,

Use the Count journal Create lines > On hand function to automatically create lines with Inventory dimensions filled in. Use the filter on the Records to include tab to target the items you are interested in.

Thank you all for your suggestions!

Once I set the values of these used items to zero, how can I make them "disappear" from the on hand list? I know they won't show on the physical inventory but is there a way to get rid of the zero inventory values on the on hand list?

Open the On Hand List and click on Dimensiones

    Captur.PNG

    Mark the option "Quantity <>0"

    Hope that helps

You should definitely do the 'Quantity <> 0' thing, but I find that doesn't always remove as many lines as I would like. The ultimate answer depends on (in my experience) whether you are using Actual or Standard costing, and whether you are using the Warehouse management module. If you are using Actual costing, you should be running Inventory close regularly. This will help.

And you may also need to use one or more of the Inventory clean-up jobs (which is a good idea anyway).

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/sysadmin/cleanuproutines#inventory-management

    Possibly one of these:

    • On-hand entries cleanup
    • Warehouse management on-hand entries cleanup

    and:

    • On-hand entries aggregation by financial dimensions

Additionally, get in to the habit of using Warehouse management > Inquiries and reports > Physical on-hand inventory when you can. It never shows lines which have zero Physical inventory.
