Cannot change UOM on product and opportunity products

We need to change the UOM from EACH to FEE on certain products. While I can do this fine, I cannot change their related opportunity products because they've already been created with a UOM of EACH. Due to this mismatch, I cannot even open the opportunity product because an exception is thrown. Therefore data import also fails.

I need to be able to mass update the opportunity products from EACH to FEE (to match the UOM on the product). Is there a way to achieve this?

I was able to resolve this by temporarily closing the opportunity => opportunity products, so that they can be updated. Then after updating the OEM, I re-opened the opportunities.

I've tried using Business Rule, but it doesn't seem to save the new value. Opening the record shows FEE correctly, but upon closing and looking in advanced find, it still shows EACH.

Potentially. Create an on-demand workflow That does this update.  Use Advanced Find to look for Opp Products with this change needed, bulk select and run the workflow.

Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but it will avoid the UI-based error.

Thanks, but there's no option to update Opportunity Products via workflow :/
