BC gives filter problem on ( if exist on an item BOM

Hi All,
 
I have a customer that has ( ) in her item codes and production BOMS. They've never noticed it before and I dont know if was always an issue, but if I edit a BOM with these characters in it, if gives me an error on filtering
 
The filter "CELS190GF(42)" is not valid for the No. field on the Production BOM Header table. An error occured while interpreting the filter: Did not expect '('. For more information, see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2158058.

    It looks like a standard problem. You can try removing the '()' to see if the problem still exists.

    The system doesn't like symbols in code fields. Rename the item no. to remove the () and it will work.

    not sure if you get the error when trying to import the boms into BC, but as experts commented, you need to clean up the data before bringing it in.
