Real-Time Workflow Requiring Refresh

Hi,

Chitra just helped me out with creating a Workflow that changed the Business Process Flow on an Opportunity Form based on the data within a Field.

This works perfectly but requires a manual refresh of the page in order to change the Business Process Flow. I've tried converting the Workflow to a Real-Time Workflow, but, for some reason, this still requires me to manually refresh the page.

Does anyone have any idea as to why this requires a refresh. Or is there any way I can build a trigger into my workflow that causes the page to refresh automatically?

    Hi JDMCRM,

Workflows do require a Refresh on the form in order for you to see the changes.

If you want the changes to be shown as soon as the operation happens, you should consider a solution involving JavaScript and client-side extensions.

Can you provide more details about what you want to accomplish here? If you do, I can try to provide you an example code.

    Thanks,

    Hi Nathan,

Thanks for the response. Essentially what we are trying to do is change the Business Process Flow based on the data entered within a field on an Opportunity Form.

    -

For example, If the Field "Product" (option-set) contained "Car", the custom Business Process Flow "Car Process Flow" would be added to the Form. Conversely if the "Product" Field contained "Motorbike", the custom Business Process Flow "Motorbike Process Flow" would be added to the form.

    -

We have achieved this through a workflow.

    1. Check Condition: If Product contains Car.

    2. Update Process Stage to "Car Process Flow".

    -

The issue is we currently have to save and refresh the page after altering the data in the "Product" Field for the changes to be realized. What we are after is either for the Business Process Flow to switch out almost instantaneously (ideal solution), or for the page to auto refresh and the new Business Process Flow to be visible, straight after the product has been selected in the "Product Field".

    Thank you.

Hi JD M, Thank you for reaching out. I will let Nathan finish since he started but you would for sure need to use JavaScript for this. I have used Real time workflows to populate fields and those worked without a refresh of the form. The forms with the process have to have the ProcessId changed.

Nathan, you think he could change the workflow to an Action then use that?
