Adding a time stamp to newly added contacts?

Is there a way that you can identify the date that a contact was created other than simply adding a custom field named accordingly?  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    The information you are looking for is stored in the system attribute "createdon". Add this attribute to your form and views.
