Is there an out of the box sync for Sales Lines Bi-Directional w/ Dynamics for Sales

Hello all!
The pre-configured sync and auto-creation of Sales Orders has been enabled between our instance of BC and 365 for Sales. New Orders and Quotes flow just fine between the systems. We just have a couple of more requirements to meet and I am looking for help. Posting one here and will post the others separately.

In the event a customer calls in and needs to change an order last minute, if Sales makes the change to a 'Submitted' order the Qty that has been updated does not flow to BC as Sales Lines do not appear to be an out of the box sync. Am I missing something?

Goal: To not have to go into BC in order to make the changes to the sales Order as that does not sync back up to 365 for Sales.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

    We will check the scenario and come back to you. What release of MSDyn365BC is this?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    After you submit the sales order, the sales order changes into read only mode.

    You can however still adjust / edit the products which does make the synch a bit complicated.  All other fields are greyed out. One of the systems should however be leading and I would vote for the ERP system (in this case BC) as this is where the work does happen related to accounting, financial integrity, etc.

    At the moment this appears to be the current design.

    Thanks for the feedback! While this will work (just need sales to be in both apps) it still does not sync the lines back to CRM if they are edited in BC. Is there a line sync codeunit or standard to push back to CRM?

    Hello,

    The current design can be seen here:

    www.youtube.com/watch

    Out of the box, there is no entity in BC to also synch the salesorder lines as well while this does exist for the invoices via invoice details entity. There is standard integration between sales order to orders whereas invoice headers and invoice details are also synched.

    We understand that there is high demand for this to be added in standard, so feel free to add this to https://aka.ms/bcideas or vote for an existing idea as this may exist already.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    Here is the answer that is more official (coming from product manager that does own this part of the product):

    ////

    Well it's sort of by design and process is sort of one way. Sales order integration is somewhat special as it uses Salesorderintegratoin organization setting (IsSOPIntegrationEnabled) in D365 Sales, which effectively means sales order is done in D365 Sales, it's up to ERP or 3rd party to continue handling sales order further (you can read more about it in our docs as well).

    We have many limitations due to Submitted status of sales order in D365 in terms of what we can synch back (e.g. that's why we post to timeline feed). Also if partial shipments or invoicing are done on BC side, there's also a lot of limitations in terms of changes that can be pushed back from Sales to BC.

    I'm currently collecting arguments to abandon this approach, as:

    • This is a setting that was done long time ago (i think for Dynamics GP integration)
    • Sales team has frequent regressions in this area
    • I've heard multiple times about these limitation.

    For example, F&O does not rely on IsSOPIntegrationEnabled setting which I believe gives them a bit more freedom in terms of synching things back and forth in sales orders.

    I'd propose to log a suggestion for this so we can have it planned in one of upcoming release waves.

    I'd also expect, that with customization capabilities partners can override this where needed.

    ///

    Hope it does help. It is a good question though, so thank you for asking and have us re-look at it.

    Thanks.
