Ordering products on behalf of someone else

Hello,

I know that it is possible to order something on behalf of someone else. That means, that the preparer creates a purchase requisition and the requester is ordering the product on behalf of the preparer.

But what about purchase orders. I could not find anything like that for purchase orders. Is it possible for purchase orders to order something on behalf of some else?

For purchase requisition I have find this process under procurement and sourcing -> setup -> policies -> purchase requisition permissions. I could not find anything like that for PO's

I have the same question (0)

Zain Mehmood : Yeah a customization is possible. Perhaps we will do that instead.

Saurabh Bharati : Yes, that is possible, but these two fields are connected to vendors. So I have to maintain for each vendor the purchase pool or buyer. Unfortunately, we have to use the function as a requester for procurement categories so the fields purchase pool and buyer does not help me here very much.

Nevertheless, thanks for the advise. :)

Will Wu  Hello Will Wu, the customer will not use purchase requisitions. Instead, he will use purchase orders and a question appeared if it is possible to order something on behalf of someone else - so the function of a requester is required. But it seems for purchase orders this is not possible.

    Best regards

    Hi DNC,

There are pretty good workarounds already mentioned in this post. More to these, you can always create a custom field in the line details of general tab of the Purchase order.

You can create a custom field of Requestor and add that when you are preparing for purchase order.

For more information on custom fields.

    Warm Regards,

On Purchase order you can try using purchase pool or buyer to specify this detail

    Hi DNC,

A purchase requisition is an internal document in which one department is asking another department for permission to buy goods or services,  you can create purchase requisitions for products that your organization uses. A purchase order is created after the requisition and is a document that is used to actually purchase those goods or services from an outside vendor.

What are your actual business needs?
