You can just use the out of the box solution ?

To be able to have access to a custom entity in the Duplicate Detection Rules, you need to enable it on your Entity first.

Then you create as usual the Rule for your custom entity.

If you need to do this via C#, i would first think of a plugin on the Create / Update message checking the values and querying the custom entity to check if any records already exist...

    Hi Mehraj,

    Do the following steps:-

    1. Go to Settings - Customizations - Customize the System - Entities - Select the Custom entity (for which you want to enable the Duplicate Detection )

    2. go to Data Services section on the Custom entity page and mark the checkbox for 'Duplicate Detection'

    3. Go to settings - data management - Duplicate Detection rules - New

With the above steps, you can achieve the solution without writing even a single line of code.  Thanks.

    HI All,

I also have same requirement but slightly change like if user wants to still create then he can create it (duplicate record).
