Import N:N Data

I have an entity - Jobs  - which has a N:N relationship with Properties.

For all of my Jobs, I have an associated Property. I've imported all Jobs and would now like to import all their associated Properties.

How can I achieve this please?

    Hello,

You can use either XrmToolbox and N-N import plugin or SSIS + KingswaySoft adapters for Dynamics CRM.

Thanks. I've found the XRM Toolbox utility but I'm struggling with it somewhat....

If I run an export from it, the resulting file is empty....

I exported a CSV from CRM that contains all records from the Properties entity with the Mapping Attribute that matches the Mapping Attribute on the Jobs entity.  I then import it from the utility. The error I get across all lines is "Error! No record (new_property) was found with the value specified".

Any clues as to where I'm going wrong?

    Hello,

Do you have Property records created in CRM already? If you don't you will have to create it first before importing N-N relationship to CRM.

    Hi,

Yes, I have both Property and Job created. I was hoping this utility would allow me to "glue" them together with the common Mapping Attribute.

Ok. Can you please post here example of data from file you use and screenshot from NN Relationship Manager plugin?

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your help in this matter.

A line from Property (5).csv used for import:

    Name,Owner,File Reference,Street1,Street2,Street3,City,State,Postal Code
    134 Hoold Lane ,,A379,134 Hoold Lane ,Preston,,Lancashire ,,PR5 5RE

    screeny.png

In the screenshot, Instruction is equivalent to Job as previously mentioned.

    The log error:

    Separator is ','
    Processing line 1 (134 Hoold Lane ,,A379,134 Hoold Lane ,Preston,,Lancashire ,,PR5 4RE )
    First data: 134 Hoold Lane
    Second data:
Line '1' : Error! No record (rav_property) was found with the value specified
    Processing line 2 (,,A381,,,,,,)

In the example above, A379 is the Mapping Attribute that is common to both entities.

If you want to import N-N data your file should contain 2 columns - first that references first entity and second - to second. Your file contains many columns. It should look like:

    Job 1, Property 1

    Job 2, Property 2

    Job 3, Property 3

Andrew - I've worked out what I've been doing wrong! I made it far more complicated than it needed to be.

I've successfully linked my N:N records together.

    Many Thanks for your help!
