Hi All -
I know you can attach documents within the Notes section of the Social Pane, however was wondering if there was a way that a custom field can be created for attachments?

There is no out of the box way of doing this- you would need to create a custom web resource to do this.
Hope this helps
To expand on my question:
Or, if there is a way within the Social Pane I could add a 4th section for just Documents. The reason this request is coming up is you have to scroll through all the notes to get to the documents whereas if there was on central repository for all documents related to a deal.
Does that make sense?
There is not any oob functionality to show only documents attached within notes.
Also you cannot modify social pane.
But If you create HTML web resource, in which pull all notes and its attachments and show in grid / with hyperlink, and when user clicks on it open / download attachment.
To do this you need to use lot of JavaScript and need to call CRM web service.
Here are some examples for getting attachment using JavaScript
woodsworkblog.wordpress.com/.../exporting-annotation-note-attachment
mscrmblogger.com/.../imagebrowser-webresource
Hope this will help..
Here is another relatively simple workaround
Create a report that Runs on the current record and shows only the Notes with attachments. The user will still be able to click and open the notes/attachments from the report.
You could either view this report from 'Run Report' option on the Opportunity(deal) OR Add a Command bar button called 'View Attachments' (or something else) that displays the report
Hope it helps!
Hi JSalazar,
There is no OOB Attachment Field available in Dynamics CRM. You can only use ways to attach Documents
1. Using the Notes
2. Using SharePoint
If you want to implement something not as above, you can do that using a Custom Web Resource (HTML) and using Java Script.
Hope that clarifies
Thanks
As Mithilesh suggests - have you considered a basic SharePoint integration? Documents will display just as you want them to in CRM, and they will be stored more efficiently (than if embedded in CRM).
