How to get/buy SQL Runtime license?

I read some post here about SQL licensing but not sure if I need to purchase a full license for SQL 2012 standard.

My SQL 2012 only be used for GP 2016 database. I heard I can just get the SQL Runtime license (cheaper?), but where to purchase it and how much?

Depending on your database count/size and your user count, you might try using the free version of SQL called SQL Server Express. There is a matrix that compares the functionality of Express against the other versions of SQL here: www.fmsinc.com/.../index.html. If you have a Perpetual License then you are entitled to SQl Runtime at a price that is far lower than the standard license price. Ask you partner to order it for you.

Please remember that there is no SQL Agent with SQL Server Express so no automatic scheduling of backups. The SQL runtime license that comes with GP requires you to use this license only for your GP databases. If you have external databases unrelated to GP you need to purchase SQL Server Standard least. Also, SQL Express does not allow for the deployment of SSRS reports.
