Create New Company

Hi there,

So we are using the online version of Business Central, we have several companies setup, these are showing as version NAV18.3.
We are now trying to create a new company, using the "Production - Setup Data Only" but it's showing errors on all lines.
So instead I used the "Create New - No Data" and try to import and apply the config package from another company (NAV18.3), but this also has errors, albeit a lot less than before, so, I used this method again and used the import a predefined package, this is showing version NAV20.0.

My question is is there a reason why this is failing now creating a new company and does anyone else have the same issue ?

These aren't config packages we have created, so I'm assuming Microsoft have as our partner knows nothing about them.

Or is I just use the 20.0 method will this be different from what I'm using now, or should the others be updated, or will this be done automatically ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Gareth

Emmm, I tried it in the BC20.1 SaaS W1 version and it does have a problem. This looks like a data problem.

When I create a new environment, I always import test data from the Configuration Package, so I didn't notice this problem.

In the Configuration Package, you can find detailed error reasons, then you can try again after updating the data.

    Hope this helps.

I would recommend that you contact your partner and have them raise a support ticket with Microsoft for this case as long as you are using the online version.

I appreciate the replies, however I, nor anyone employed by us, is going to sit and go through the entire config package in order to correct all the errors.

Also - as I said our partner offers zero support to us, and apparently the rest of their customers - so this would be a dead end, this is why I post in the forum to begin with.

I'm assuming I can create a company with zero data and just import and apply the 20.0 package and this would be the same as creating a company with the data ?

Also what would be the outcome if we applied this 20.0 package to the other companies running 18.3 ? Is this just an update or will this modify data ?

This is just so all companies are using the same version.

    Thanks,

    Gareth

I am sorry to hear that the partner you are working with is not giving you the support you need. If that is the case you should consider doing a partner change. The way Microsoft is selling Business Central is depending on partners providing good support and service for their customers.
