    Hi,,

Each CRM solution requires a solution publisher. For an unmanaged solution, the solution publisher provides a common customization prefix and option value prefix.

Common customization prefix - means, when you are creating any new entity, attribute, relationship etc, then all those custom customization is prefixed with some word.. like new_customEntity etc.

Option value Prefix- is when creating new option set in custom solution, then what would be staring option set value.

When you create an entity, field or relationship in any Solution that is linked to this Publisher, the prefix that you define is added before the schema name that is used internally in the system for that component.

Here are more detail information on CRM Publisher

    Hi Civargas,

A Publisher is a real world entity which publishes Solutions in Dynamics CRM. Those entity can be a

    • a person,
    • department, or
    • company

When you create an Organization in CRM, a Default Publisher is created for you, which can also be used as part of your Solution.

However, you can also create your Publisher for your Solutions. Creating your own Publisher provides you more Control over your Solution, Entity and Attributes

When you create one you get a Form, which provides you with the ability of defining the Prefix for schema name in SQL for Entities, Fields.

Publisher can be added from two places

    • Settings >> Customization Area
    • Solution >> Publisher >> Lookup More Records >> New

    34327.1.jpg

    8741.1.jpg

    • Display Name : A friendly name for the Publisher.
    • Name : Schema Name (Display name is copied with any space)
    • Description : The description of Publisher. This is an optional field but recommended to provide information
    • Prefix : This field will contain 2 to 8 alphanumeric characters used as the prefix for entities and field created within the Solution. Highly recommended to have a custom one. This eliminates the possibility of having same schema name if using the Default Publisher prefix.
    • Option Value Prefix : Contains number between 10,000 to 99,999
    • Contact Details : Contact Details of Publisher

Hope this gives you some insight
