Internal Inventory Usage

Hi,

does anyone know a use case/process within business central to get an internal inventory output - for own consumption.

I actually know that it's is always a voucher necessary for a goods issue. Is it possible without?

Why? In my case often items for example liquids are consumed in subsets - so it's not ideal for a stock item.

So I want to create "no stock" items to handle with small portions and normal stock items which are regular guided in the warehouse.

Thank you!

Tom

    RE: Internal Inventory Usage

    Hi T-Mauser

I discovered a new way to do Inventory internal usage that will post straight to the GL account. there is a bit of pre-setup involved.

The first thing you have to do is create a new General Product Posting Group called "INTERNAL" then click setup.

In the General Posting setup set your Sales Account/Purchase Account/ COGS account to your normal GL's.  then under the Inventory Adjmt. account set the GL to the Internal use account. (in my case it is 5220 )

Once you have this the next step is pretty simple.

in the Item Journal make sure you have the column "Gen.Prod. Posting Group" visible.  If not you can use the personalization feature to add it.

Now all you have to do is add the products you wish to internal use and change the Gen. Prod Posting Group to INTERNAL.

As you can see when you post the Journal it will take the cost from the inventory account (in my case it is 1400) and put it to your Internal usage account

    Hope this helps

    RE: Internal Inventory Usage

I'm going to create a additional puffer-location with negative stock allowed. From there small/half patches should be sold - otherwise it will be sold from the normal warehouse. To get items to my puffer I will use internal stock transfer.

So I can track my stock correctly and it is not blurried with any subsets.

    Thanks for your help!

    RE: Internal Inventory Usage

    Hi

If you need to keep track of stock then you need to use inventory item and find a method to register the usage or adjust the inventory. it could be through production order. In Wave 1 2022 you can have a fix QTY in BOM https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365-release-plan/2022wave1/smb/dynamics365-business-central/fixed-quantity-product-bills-materials

other method is to use monthly/biweekly adjustment or SO to adjust your inventory. For example internal SO and your inventory as customer.

If you do not need to keep track of stock and all you need to know is usage then non-inventory item is the best path to go.

Good use case for the non-inventory type of items: docs.microsoft.com/.../inventory-about-item-types
