BC On Premise AL Compiler only vsix or update via vsc market possible?

Hello,

I'm currently using AL Language Compiler 6.4.403123 installed form the vsix file form BC On Prem 17 targeting a BC14 installation. Now in Visual Studio it shows me an update to 6.6.425415. 

Should I do the upgrade or should I stick to the vsix Versions?

Anyway is there still a difference for BC On Premise between the market place and the shipped vsix versions?

    Hello,

    Good question, maybe one of the hard core developers in this forum know the answer to this question. My take would be that it should work with the shipped files on the OnPrem DVD.

    There used to be a problem with version compatibility but at some point Msft recognized that was not really a good solution, and they made it backward compatible. The official oldest compatible version is Spring 2018, which is 12 I think, so you should be good to update.

    If you do have an issue, you can always install the vsix from the product binaries. Those should always be compatible with the BC version on the same install files
