Rolling up to a Unit of the Tree

(0) ShareShare

Hello:

Below is a small "summary", showing my reporting tree’s “International” rollup reporting unit.  Underneath this unit in my tree are the units for international divisions.

I suppose that, technically, this International “rollup unit” (10) should be a combination of all of the financial dimensions for the international reporting tree units.

But, MR will not let me place multiple financial dimension links into this International reporting unit in column F.  The best that I have been able to do is to place the “default” FD1 financial dimension in the International unit. (FD1 represents only the domestic entities.)

My fear is that the International reporting unit is not going to report consolidated data for all of the international reporting units that exist “underneath” it, in the reporting tree.

So, how to do you roll up the international reporting units underneath to this International reporting unit?

I hope that that all makes sense.  Please let me know, if you’d like for me to clarify even further.

Thanks!

John

I have an International reporting Group that is made up of different companies which I want to roll up into one reporting group on my tree.  I would need to have a summary “branch” in my tree for this top level roll up, like I show below, for company 10.  I need to insert levels under this summary group that contain each of the companies that I want to be included in this International Group.  For example, if I have three companies in this international group, my tree would look like this:

10   International Group (Summary Level)

11   UK                                 Name of my row definition                      Name of my financial link from row def

12   France                           Name of my row definition                      Name of my financial link from row def

13  Canada                          Name of my row definition                       Name of my financial link from row def

That's a good point, Matt!  In fact, my post then is a "moot point".  :)

I'll try that.  Thanks, so much, Matt!

It doesn't really make much sense why they have you specify one there.  I just did a quick test and it's not taken in to account when the report is run from what I can tell.

My test had two child units using FD2 and the parent unit using FD1 with different accounts in them.  When I ran the report for all three units both the children used FD2 and the summary level had the summary of the FD2 accounts.

I'd just try running it and see if the numbers make sense.

    Hi Matt:

Yes, I did.  Upon trying to save, Management Reporter throws an error saying that I have to enter a Financial Dimensions link.

It's strange, because the top level Consolidated "@Any" branch does not require a link.  I don't understand why other @Any branches do.

I don't think you need to put anything in the Financial Dimensions link for the Summary level one.  Have you tried that?
