How to send email notifications to child records via a Workflow

I see this a lot with customers that are wanting to have a number of users internally that are to be notified in the event that a customer service case is created.

As an example I have a team of users that are associated to an Account - that range from different roles (i.e. Account Manager, Technical) and need to be notified.

Has anyone else created a workflow to do this OR is it even possible? It would be silly for me to create multiple fields on a form as this limits how many users could be associated.

Any ideas?

if you want send email to a team, you need to write custom workflow.

As default workflow only support send email to  account, contact, facility, lead, queue and user.

Just looked at this - however, these child records will sit in their own custom team (custom entity) as such - as they could be a primary tech in one account, and a secondary tech in another.

    Hello Chris,

I suggest you to check this : crm2011distributewf.codeplex.com

It's a workflow activity which allow you to run workflow on all the child records. You can create the workflow to send the email on the child entity and use this workflow activity to run it.

It's designed for CRM 2011 so it work also on CRM 2013, if you are on CRM 2015 check the source code to implement it for this version.
