Duplicates detected in spite of not existing

Hello all,

I recently bought a new instance for CRM Online and am facing a very strange problem. When I try to import contacts using a .csv file, there are several duplicates detected. However, when I verify in the CRM, those records do not exist (neither do any other record with the same email ID or name). But when I create those records manually, CRM accepts it without any warning. What could be the reason?

Thanks in advance

I guess some rows of your import are failing? And the error in the import log says something about duplicates?

Have you read the error carefully? Is it saying that the record you are importng is a duplictae, or is the issue that there is a lookup to an entity such as Account, and that has a duplicate?

So you have two Accounts called Acme. Then you try to import two Contacts Alice and Bob, both working for Acme. The import will fail because the system cannot tell which of the two Accounts you want them associated with.

    Options:

    1) make sure to deduplicate your Accounts (or whatever the problem entity is).

    2) use something other than name for the lookup field eg Account number, or GUID

Hello Adam, the problem entity is indeed the Account name as you said, but the system doesn't have any duplicate Accounts. I'll just try once again after changing the lookup field.

Don't forget it will consider one Active and one Inactive Account record as a duplicate here. So if you did have duplicates and you merged them, and the inactive ones are still in the system, they are still a problem. Either rename them or delete
