Custom ribbon button on form

Hi,

I am working on opening a pdf on ribbon button click. I know how to place the button using ribbon workbench and add commands and display rules to it. Also, I've been following few articles on how to render a pdf from a report using ReportExecutionService and all those stuff. But what I am not sure is how to create a command to the button which calls the code to execute. I know we can set a command to call a javascript function in ribbon workbench but don't know how to execute the render pdf code to this button. Someone please guide me on how to do this.

    Hi,

    Option 1:

    you can create custom web application, host on server from where you can access CRM system.. in this custom application write your code to render PDF, and call this custom application web page from button click JavaScript function.

    Option 2:

    You can create PDF by using workflow attach it to document notes and on button click open that attachment file.

    But here you need to generate and attach PDF file before button click-- this is more tricky.. either you need to create for all records and attach it to notes.. :(

    or Create two ribbon buttons, one to create PDF and one to Open PDF..

    when Create PDF button clicked update some attribute on form, and save record.. which will call workflow, workflow will create PDF and attach it to Notes..

    and when Open PDF button clicked open that PDF file.

    Hope this will give you some idea..
