Quantity Requested Error

We are currently encountering an error for non lot-tracked items when the total pick quantity across all orders exceeds the available quantity in the bin, regardless of the individual pick.

This results in the need to perform 30–40 inventory adjustments daily, disrupting workflow and introducing unnecessary manual intervention, which increases the risk of errors.

This will depend on your location and warehouse settings. With standard BC it will only create Picks if there is an available quantity on hand in that bin. It seems you are using insight warehouse so there also may be setup you need to configure. Below are a few things I would check in your settings.

    1. In the Location Card you should check your Default Bin Selection. I'd recommend setting this as Fixed Bin, if you have it set as Last Used Bin it may be causing issues.

    2. Under Bin Policies you will also want to look at your Pick Bin Policy and confirm the setup (either Default or Ranking)

    3. You will want to look at timing on your pick creation. If you create picks but don't process them for say a week, you may have other inventory activity in your system that is removing the inventory from that bin assigned on the pick. You can check your Item setup by opening any Item and navigating to the Planning section and validating the Reserve setting. If you don't have reservations on or they are set as Optional, this could lead to inventory movements occuring.

You may want to change your process as well. I would recommend using Bin Rankings and having your Pick bins as the highest ranking. Then you can set Maximum and Minimum quantities on these pick bins. Before completing the picks in your system you can use the movement worksheet to replenish the bins.
