Showing related records in a subgrid without adding them?

I have a bit of a unique ask. Try and bare with me as I do my best to explain what I'm after.

I've created a custom entity that is displayed on the Contact and Account forms.

If I add a record (in a subgrid) on the contact form, I'm wanting another subgrid on the contact form to display accounts that have a matching record, within the account record on a subgrid.

For example.

We add "Custom Entity Record 1" to Joe Smith's contact record in a subgrid. This "Custom Entity Record 1" also lives in a subgrid for Account 1 and Account 2. I'm wanting the record for Account 1 and Account 2 to automatically populate in a subgrid (or another better option?) in the Joe Smith contact record.

Any known ways to do this?

Thanks,

Matt

Many to many on all of them. I have the subgrids all added, I'm just trying to find a way for the system to look at both records and reflect ones that match automatically within the subgrid I've already got sitting in the form.

But if there's a better way of doing this than a subgrid, i'm all ears!

I don't think a custom view will do what I need. I'm guessing this is going to be a development task. Here's another example.

If i'm looking at a Contact Record, there are two subgrids. One labeled as "dream laptops" and another labeled as "recommended retailers".

If I add a certain type of laptop, like a Macbook Pro to the "dream laptops" subgrid, then the subgrid for "recommended retailers" would automatically add all the retailers (accounts, in this case) that have "Macbook Pro" as a record, within it's own record.

That's probably clear as mud. Ha!

    Definitely need some development.

You cannot run a workflow on the N:N relationship.

You are looking to filter sub grid based on another sub grid for that you need to develop custom grid using html web resource.

I am sure you have created relationship based on your requirements only, but let's say if the we create relationship in other way you can implement this using filter lookups for example in the above example

"If I add a certain type of laptop, like a Macbook Pro to the "dream laptops" subgrid, then the subgrid for "recommended retailers" would automatically add all the retailers (accounts, in this case) that have "Macbook Pro" as a record, within it's own record."

Let's say you have a lookup for Dream Laptop and you selected Mackbook from the available options, and there is another lookup to which retailer you will use, when you will click on the retailer lookup it will show all the possible options for Mackbook and you can select one of them.  (there will be relationship between the entity which stores laptops and retailer)

Technically, I think you can build if not a view then, at least, fetchXml.. you just need to display all retailers which are associated with the laptops which, in turn, are associated with the contact. Not sure it's worth the effort since you might, then, have to use a pre-retrievemultiple plugin to intercept the original query and to replace fetchXml on the fly.

Besides, if you do want those relationships to work in the filters (in the advanced find, for example), you need them to really exist.. so I'm guessing you will need to develop something to automatically maintain the relationship, but, come to think of it, that's a lot of work for the system if the relationships are going to be updated often.

you need to create an association with Account and Contact on the association of Contact and Entity 1(your custom entity)

You can create the plugin for this.
