Get connecte Power BI with BC on-premise

Hi everyone,

In our company we want to connect Power BI with our Business Central on-premise solution.
Unfortunately we cant get this working...

We already created an registered app in azure active directory and connected it via assisted setup in BC like the Microsoft documentation says.
However the Power BI sections in BC dont show any reports.

We also purchased a Power Bi Pro licence and tried to get data via OData feed from our webservices.
For my user i created a webservice key and i can access those web services via browser.
But if I try to connect in Power Bi Desktop with Basic authentication using my webservice key as password and user DOMAIN\USER I still get this error: We couldn't authenticate with the credentials provided.
Also all other credential types or other connectors dont work showing the same error.

In BC we use credential type Windows.
Also tried to use gateways (standard and personal). But dont know if they are configured correctly...

In addition in app.powerbi.com we downloaded "Smart BI for Dynamics 365 Business Central" and tried to connect some webservices.
In datasets i cant connect to my created gateway neither to the webservices neither i can create a new datasource with the same authentication error.

Maybe our BC instance is configured wrong? Some of my assumptons:

* SSL installed via IIS, web services run without SSL
* Active Directory registered App with masked https URl, but web services run with unmasked http local URl
* BC server is different to users workspace. Port should be open if I can reach web services in browser

I hope you can understand my troubles. I am not an IT-Admin and the ones in our company neither.
Because our software partner needs so much time for support, i hope we can get help in here. If there is more information needed, please let me know.

Thanks and best regards!

    Hello,

    Requirements are written here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../admin-powerbi-setup

Best is to contact your partner to setup all these components for you on your behalf.

Just one suggestion even if you are not an IT-admin, please do use SSL everywhere and don't use unmasked http local URI as you call it as this is a bad practice.. Here is it is a requirement and the local server must be accessible over the internet, but it is a general practice to use SSL and recommended by Microsoft.

Microsoft recommends to use modern authentication like Azure AD with MFA.

Hope it helps and good luck with the implementation.

    Thanks.
