We don't want to use the "adjust stock" setting as it's not clear where the stock goes and WH is not
authorised to just write-off stock.
We need a setting where the short picked stock is automatically moved to a discrepancy location until 
further investigations can be done.
This is a "fine-picking" WH, so no batches/lots etc.

    Short pick does not have the capability to trigger the inventory to be moved to a virtual location for investigation. You are limited to the options available on the Work exception.
     
    Short picks are logged in the Locations with open work exceptions screen, until they are marked as Closed (investigated). You might be able to build a process around the use of this screen. This blog post describes why it was created:
