I need some more information to even suggest something.  What version of Dynamics SL are you running?  At what point to you get this error (menu item)?  If this is a particular menu item, is it a standard SL program or a custom program (made with the SDK)?  Does this happen on all workstations or just one?

    Aloha Nguyen,

We also receive this message and have been able to repeat it even in Standard Customization Level.  I am not sure if it the same process as with you, but this is how I repeat it.

    1. Open Vendor Maintenance

    2. Start typing in a VendID record

    3. Click F3 for PV lookup

    4. Choose the Vendor Record

    5. Vendor Maintenance returns but is really slow and eventually you receive an Assertion Failure (sometimes right away or by clicking on documents tab)

I think the problem is with the PV (not all PVs have this issue so it could be specific PVs based on recordset).  If you skip #2 above (just clicking F3 and picking the vendor from the PV lookup) everything works great.  It only happens if you start typing in the vendid and then click F3.  For now, I have told our users to skip step #2 above.

I have not had time to research further or provide documentation to Microsoft (plumbline), but thought I would reply to your inquiry to see if it is the same issue you are having.

    Aloha,

    -Scott

Nguyen, I have encountered a similar issue with SDK developed programs.  Standard SL programs work just fine.  The most common cause has been the Windows firewall on the server not letting external SQL requests through from workstations.  However, since you indicated you checked the Windows firewall on the server and that this program runs fine on other workstations and the firewall, on the server, is letting SQL through, it seems that this workstation is being blocked for some reason.  There must be some minor difference between SDK developed programs and standard SL programs that I am not aware of regarding passing SQL requests since the standard SL programs run on this workstation but the SDK developed program gives this error.  Perhaps someone else knows what that difference is and can shed some more light on your issue.
