Can I turn off receipt printing and only print when I want to?
Where is this option found?

SO Manager - Database - Registers - Register list - Properties - Receipt printer - Receipt printing.
The option to 'Print receipts only after asking the cashier' will prompt to print each time.
The option 'Do not print receipts' will not show a prompt, but you can use the journal F4 to print receipts later as long as the option 'Journal receipts for this printer' is selected and format defined
Any way to Print when you want and not get a annoying prompt everytime?
i have tried to turn off recipts, but when i do that the OPOS printer will not be enabled in RMS POS. so I cant print from the journal when I want to print. Secondly if I try the windows drivers, insted of OPOS. the recipts do not print in proper format.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
You can click the button which says printer on POS application virtual keyboard. It will disable the printer. It can be re-enable by pressing the printer button again.
Victor,
As long as you have your Printer Type and device name configured properly, setting Receipt Printing to Do not print receipts will NOT disable the printer. We do this all the time for clients. As long as Journal receipt from this printer is set, the receipt will be journaled and you can have the client press Shift F11 to reprint the last receipt.
Hey Ryan,
My printer is setup properly, it prints receipts no problem when set on print all the time. Its just that when we set the Receipt Printer 1 to Do not print receipt, it greys out the driver to use for the printer, in Manager. And the printer is totally disabled in the POS.
But SDDXB's suggestion is working for me, I set the printer to always print, and just disabled the printers on the POS's by pressing shift+f9.
Thanks for all the help....
Well you can not configure the receipt printer, then there is the problem and it is that if you print the receipt the Journal will not be created, failing you to reprint the receipt if you want.
However you can use the windows printer instead of OPOS, and there is very nice tool called ZanImage which generated the receipt as PDF, GIF, JPG and many other format, the printing is salient mean it will not show you the printer dialog, this way you can have journalize your receipt as well as the receipt will be printed as any of the document specified.
So here is the how i got it to work...using OPOS driver I have always print in SM for all the registers, I am disabling the Printer at logon using ctrl+F9, Then when i want to print I just use shift+F11. Its working great...
Thank you all for all your help.
