What is File Capacity relevant to?

Hi,

Planning for an upgrade to an online environment from on-premise and reading about database sizes, file capacity and log capacity. I am wonder what the file capacity is relevant to? Is it in regards to attachments and annotations?

I am assuming the log capacity is relevant to audit histories?

Many thanks

In simple English "File Capacity" is applicable to apps like D365 CE, or PowerApps. It referes to the Attachments in "Notes" or "Emails". This can include Word documents, image files, PDF files, spread sheets, videos and other business files.

    Hi

As suggested above, the DB stores everything attachments, audits and other.

If you are migrating to CRM Online, its about how much storage space you have in your Office 365 tenant account.  When you buy a CRM instance you will by default get 5GB storage for that instance database and you may also get additional storage for free depending on the type of licenses you add.

As long as you have sufficient storage, you can store anything in the database. And I do not think there is any limit on the DB size, even if there is, it is something that you will only reach in the very very rare scenario.

    hi,

You can check below URL, it lists a various commands which you can run over your existing SQL server management studio.

    database.guide/6-ways-to-check-the-size-of-a-database-in-sql-server-using-t-sql

It will list you a size of different files that gets save at background of SQL server.

    Thank you

    HI,

Database size includes attachments annotation and audit histories. Since database do includes audit table, annotations and attachment. Your database size increases with each entries in CRM.

    Thank you
