How to create a report that shows all the campaigns that touched a won opportunity?

I would like to create a report and/or chart that shows all marketing campaign touches for a won opportunity, or a group of opportunities.  For example, I would like to see how many and which campaigns touched all won opportunities (and their primary contacts, if possible) in Q3 of 2012.  Can this be done?

    Hi Julius,

    THe short answer is yes, this is possible --probably with a custom report, but perhaps an out-of-the-box report.  However, this really depends on how you are tracking these things in the first place.  Are you in the planning stages of how to track and report them, or have you already been tracking campaign participation?

    I have been tracking campaign participation with our marketing automation system, which is synched to our CRM.  I'm not very familiar with this part of the CRM yet, but when I click a campaign I do see that some contacts are associated with it, and when I click the stock "Campaign Performance" report I do see activities (web visits, emails opened and clicked, etc) for most of the campaigns I checked.

    It appears there is a lot of raw data there thanks to the automation system to CRM synch, now I want to make some sense of it and show our marketing activities are resulting in wins.

    Hi Julius,

    That's good!  You may still be looking at a custom report because marketing data is not an exact science...it is more coorelative.  So you are wanting to look more at trends...like when the touches of this type increased, so did the won opportuniites.

    There are likely some complex relationships in this coorelation; for example, is every contact assocaited directly to the opportunity?  If not, you may do something like counting all the touches/responses to contacts assocated with Accounts that are related to Accounts where there are Won opportunities.  You may be able to do this with Advanced FInd/Dashboards, but you might get better trending from a custom report.  You might also try contacting your marketing automation vendor and see if they can help you put together some reports based on their data or provide examples.
