The accounting department wants Requisition forms to be accessible through our MOSS portal.

1. Do we need to have Business Portal installed to do this?

2. How do you go about integrating Req Mngt with our current MOSS portal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for time and assistance.

     Hello Gonzalez

Requisition Management is part of Business Portal and not exactly part of MOSS 2007 or no integration for that matter. However Business Portal itself requires either MOSS or WSS. Now coming back to your other question on availability of Requisition forms to be accessible through MOSS, I guess you are asking for accessing request documents or quotation documents. basically this feature is not available yet in Business Portal. If your question is just accessing Requisitions through MOSS portal, once you install MOSS and install Business Portal on top of it, then you are good to go and your Req Management module would be available to you.

Janakiram, I want to thank you for taking the time to respond to my post, I really appreciate it.  I am a total newbie when it comes to GP and Business Portal so please excuse my ignorance.

    So, for my clarification...

Business Portal must be installed for us to use the Requisition Managent module.

Business Portal is installed on top of MOSS 2007 or WSS

Now, the below statement was taken from a list of Business Portal Features I found online ....

  • Timesheets, expense reports, requisitions and other tasks can be delivered through the user's Web browser. Eliminates related paperwork and data re-entry.
  •

You stated this is not available yet in Business Portal, if that is the case, what would the above statement be referring to?  or do you mean, the documents would not be accessible through Moss but would be accessible through BP?

One last question...  When BP is installed, I assume it asks for the URL/ Server where our MOSS environment lives, does it then create a site within our MOSS site collection, so it appears seemless to the end user?

     Hi Gonzalez,

I'll be delighted to reply to you because you said you are a newbie to GP. Welcome to our Dynamics GP community family:)

Now coming back to your questions, I think I got a fair understanding of what you are looking at basically. I'll take your questions one by one.

    1.  Q: Business Portal must be installed for us to use the Requisition Managent module.A:Yes.because Requisition Management is a module that is part of Business Portal and not a stand alone product by itself

    2.  Q: Business Portal is installed on top of MOSS 2007 or WSS. A: Yes. I understand from your questions that you already have MOSS installed in your environment. So, Business Portal can be installed on it.

    3.  Q: do you mean, the documents would not be accessible through Moss but would be accessible through BP? A: When I said documents, it means say you have a Vendor Quotation with you that you'd like to attach along with a purchase request to send it to Finance department. Basically If you'd like any attachment to be attached to a purchase requisition flow is not available which is what I mean. What you read from web is absolutely perfect and it is what BP does. So, No need to get confused with what I said and the whole requisition flow is beautifully designed in BP.

    4.  Q: When BP is installed, I assume it asks for the URL/ Server where our MOSS environment lives, does it then create a site within our MOSS site collection, so it appears seemless to the end user? A: Basically If you have MOSS installed, First you need to install Web services for Dynamics GP before installing BP. If you are installing BP on WSS, Web services are not required. For BP, In MOSS, you'd first need to create a Web Application and choose Collaboration Team template. Then, When you start installing BP, First you'd need to provide the URL for your web services and then it asks for URL where BP is supposed to be installed. So,It doesnt create a web application in MOSS by itself first you have to create it in MOSS, then when you come back to BP installation, You'd see the web application you created in the drop down to choose from.

    Hope this helps your questions

    Thanks

    Janakiram

Janakiram, thank you for the detailed explanation.

I have a query on the requisition module. Can we customize Requisition module if we are using WSS. The reason is we have been checking out requisition module and found that it supports only USD currency for requisitions and we need to inclue Multi Currency options (with exchange rates).

And other query is can we link requisition module to validate budget commitments using Analytical Accounting Budgets??

Can we do these things in requisition module. We are trying it out on GP 10 + Business Portal 4. Hoping that I was able to put in our query properly.

    Thanks once again,

    Vishal

    Hi Vishal,
Take a look at the ReQlogic Requisition Management module. It has the functionality for multi-currency requisitions. You can get more information from
    http://www.tectura.com/Reqlogic/ReQlogic.asp

Let me know if you need further assistance.
