Hi,

I have a requirement where quote line items should not get copied/converted into order line items after creating order from quote.

Please suggest the way to achieve this.

Thanks,

Hardik Chauhan

Why? The rational behind the quote to Sales order process is that the approved Quote is the basis of the sales order and everything is trackable across the system.

When is it determined that the quote line items should not be part of the final order?

What you really need to be doing here is looking at your processes and ensure that the approved quote matches the sales order. So if the sales order is based on a quote without line 3, you should create a second (updated) version of the quote, remove line 3 from it and  use that new quote as the basis of the sales order.

There is no way from my understanding ootb.  You'll need to write a plugin that deletes the Order Line Items.  However I would question why you don't want them as the order would be empty.

    Thanks

    Thanks Neil for the suggestion.

I can not go for the approach suggested by you as we have integrated CRM with AX and it creates record in AX with associated order line items so we can't take this suggested approach.

    Please suggest the other ways.

How are you integrated with AX?  Is it real time integration?

    Yes, it is real time.

In which case I suspect there is nothing you can do. You could have a plugin on the create message of pre-operation to check if its a quote becoming a sales order and throw an error if that's the case but that will block the order creation as the adding of lines (from memory) is within a single (core) transaction and throwing an error will stop the enter order creation.

As I stated earlier the only way to fix this within CRM is to ensure the create a correct quote is created without the problematic AX lines before you transform the quote into the sales order.

    Hi Ben,

    Thanks for the help.

But I chose an another approach. In this approach I've created a new entity and added quote line records into it instead of adding it in OOB Quote Lines and this way when I will create an order from quote it will not copy Quote Lines.

    Thanks,

    Hardik Chauhan
