How can speed up making customizations?

Hello, I make a lot of customizations to our CRM Online implementation. I connect over a home internet connection (cable modem), and use Chrome or IE. However, I find that making changes is *very* slow and tedious, i.e., it seems to take the system several seconds to make simple changes that I would expect to be more or less instantaneous. For example, today I was deleting steps from a workflow. Each step took ~10 seconds to delete. This is just one example of many; making any changes to workflows, forms, and views is just very slow. Is there a solution to this? I have a hard time imagining professional customizers tolerating this much delay. If it's a network issue, is there a way for me to do editing/testing locally, and then upload changes? Appreciate any suggestions--

Thanks!

Besides the network bottleneck, when we click Save, Delete, Publish, etc. in the UI to make customization changes, there are dozens of changes that CRM makes to the underlying SQL Server database -- a database server shared by lots of CRM organizations. All of this adds up to a seemingly slow process... but I still recall the "old days" where a 10 second change in CRM would be 10 hours or 10 days in another system.  :)

If you haven't already done so, be sure to download and get familiar with XrmToolBox and similar productivity tools. Tools like the field/attribute generator can save you a lot of clicks and a lot of time.

    Hi,

The usual approach is having a local DEV environment (with the same customizations as your live online environment), do all customizations there and only transfer them to live using Solutions:
