Upload of Excel budget file to Dynamics GP

Hello,

We have an issue with importing an Excel budget into Dynamics GP via Budget Wizard for Excel.  The file imported and then an Excel export was created to compare the 2 budget files: 1) import of budget vs. 2) export of budget to ensure the budget $ imported properly by account, etc.  In reviewing this comparison of the 2 files, it was noticed that there were several accounts where the budget $ in GP was 100X, 1000X, or 10000X the $ value of what the import Excel file contained.  The client indicated that this also happened last year when they tried to import the budget from Excel to GP.  Any ideas on why this happens or how best to address it?

Thank you.

    Hi Bill,

Thank you for your response.  The import file did have some formulas, but I copied/pasted value all of the data cells and formatted to 2 decimals before we imported the Excel file to GP.  So, for example, there may have been a data value originally entered as .00982 and was re-formatted to 2 decimals resulting in .01 and then imported to GP.  Then an export of the budget residing in GP showed this value as 9.82 (1000x its original value).  Any further ideas what may be causing this?  Thank you!

Is there any chance that in the import there are any calculations left over?  And just for clarity, I always make sure that I am not 'rounding' and I only format the values as dollars and cents - I do not allow for extra ZERO to appear at the end of the values.

Might help - let us know
