Developing Apps using xRM Platform (Dynamics CRM 2016 or Dynamics 365 )

Hi,

Hope you guys are fine and doing good.

I am new to Dynamics CRM Development, I am planning to develop an HR module using xRM Platform (But not using any of the OOB functionality, I mean only using Platform functionlity as a Rapid Development Source), I have couple of Questions:

Q 1: What kind of License I need, I mean as a Developer, Could not find any Developer License on Licensing Page, Just thinking Seniors may help to find one, IF EXIST ;) ?

Q 2: Are users of my HR application do need full functional license of Dynamics CRM (Any Version) keep one thing in mind that they are using my Application not CRM OOB functionality?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Imran

    Hi Imran,

I am not sure what version of CRM you are planning to use (whether Online or On-Premise), but generally the following logic should apply.

As the person who is developing the application, you can use an Administrative License (which does not consume an actual paid license), but the Administrative License does not allow you to make changes to the actual data in the entities.

The users that are going to be using the application can use a Team License (or Essential license if pre-Dynamics 365). This is a limited license, but provided pretty much all or most of the capabilities that you would need as an end-user not using Out of the Box (OOB) entities.

Please note that there are some entities OOB, that you use with the Team Member license (such as Account, Contact, Activities).

If you need as the develop to enter data into the system, then you have a few options.

The first is get a product (Dynamics 365 for Sales) or enterprise license for yourself (Dynamics 365 Enterprise or Dynamics CRM Professional), which will give you full access to develop and enter data. The other option is to use the Administrative License to develop, and a second user account using Team Member License that you will use to Enter data.

I hope this helps. Good luck developing the solution.
