BOM importing using table import in Manufacturing

Posted on by 75

Hello,

Can someone give me some advice please. I have followed all the instructions to importing manufacturing BOMs using table import and I got the message that everything was imported successfully. However, I cannot see the data when I go into the Manufacturing BOM card. Can some please advice what step I am missing

I have an idea that might help, go to www.di.jo and download the Excel Paste, send me your site name of your registration keys to activate your account for 14 days were you can take your time in importing any data you might need using the simple and advanced excel paste and then remove the product.

I always write them on site.  You need two.  The first goes through the parent items and creates the BOM header with NO components.  The second adds components, one at a time.  Start with a blank window, enter the parent item, add one component, save and return to the blank window.

Thanks Richard. Yes I have multiple level BOMs.

I am doing all this on the test company first so I can delete the entries to date no problem.

I started out using the mail merge maco which I had used to import a number of other sets of data successfully but it would not work for me with the manufacturing BOMS.

Could you point me towards a manufacturing BOM mail merge macro template that I could utilise. I am looking at over 4,000 BOMs to be imported.

Do you have multiple level BOMs?  There is a flag in the line table that imports does not set.  Manually enter a BOM through GP and then look at the lines of the new item against the entered data and you will see the difference.  Update this field with a SQL Update statement.

If you do not know SQL, you might want to delete these entries (go to a backup or initialize the tables) and import the BOMs using a Mail Merge Macro.
