Where can I get a copy of media for MS Dynamics - POS 2.0?

My customer has a small store in which they use MS Dynamics POS 2.0.  It is shutting down with an error:

"Event Message: An unhandled CLS compliant exception occurred.  Source: System.Windows.Forms Message: Attempted to read or write protected memory.  This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."

I did RAM and hard drive diagnostics and both are good.  There have been no updates (this is on an XP machine.)

I'm assuming there's actually something wrong with the program and that I need to reinstall (or repair if that's possible.)  But the customer does not have the media.  Can I get this anywhere?

Thanks for any help!

    Check if database is full.

If SQL 2005 which came with original RMS setup disk if is the free version has a max size of 2MB, If SQL 2008 free is used then maybe of 4MB.

Check this file size in win explorer or through administrator and if found full deleting some old journal entries may put back on track.

I would not reinstall it if I would not have both keys on hand, the RMS set up disk key and if the database is in the same machine as cash register then POS licenses (for every cash register to be sure).

    Deleting Journal done by Administrator.

    Cheers

Thanks for your response.  After consulting with the client, I created a fresh backup and then deleted all transactions.  I then restarted the POS as well as the computer.  Alas, it's still shutting down.  However, we're not getting the error about writing to protected memory.  Instead, we're getting the following error (actually we were getting this one before but it's very brief.) This is it:

    Event ID 5000

    mpos

Does this mean anything to you?

I'd much rather solve the problem without reinstalling, but if necessary, if I can get a copy of MS Dynamics, couldn't I import the SQL Server data from the old instance?

No It doesn't mean a thing but I tell you what happened to us.

The computer which was also a cash register and the server on the network, just started to shut down unexpectedly. After going through RMS checks and found nothing unusual, we took it to a technician who brought back to life in half an hour.

There was some coffee spill that went through the vents and the vents were blocked. After clean and service the heat sink is going without a hitch. This was 4 years ago and yes is still in Win XP.

Is this the only computer on the network? If more then one, do the others also shut down?

If not then reinstalling I don't think will help you.

How did you deleted transactions? I have read on this forum that there are 21 steps to be done in order to have proper deletion.

Take note that you need the set up disk installation key and the 25 digit license key for the cash register if this is also a cash register.

Googling Event ID 5000 refers to .Net frame issues and SQL connectivity issues.

    Good Luck

Are you using Microsoft RMS 2.0 or the Microsoft POS 2.0 that eventually became POS 2009?

Sorry for the delay but while this problem continues, I have had other customers demanding attention.  This is  the POS verison of MS Dynamics.  I have new information and a new problem.  So I'm going to create a new post.
