Stakeholders SubGrid

Hello

In a stakeholders sub grid on  a form, you can click the + button which adds a contact. Is there anyway that this could lookup to either a contact or an account?

Is your Stakeholder entity custom?  You'll need to check the relationship, but likely it is Account to Contact so it's not likely you could choose either/or.  But you may be able to customize and add another field that is a lookup to an Account, then use a third that populates the name based on if an Account or Contact was entered.  It's a dirty method, but possible.

The only multidimensional relationships that I'm aware of in the CRM are system generated (such as Regarding, which can be linked to any number of Entities).

    Hi

No it is out of the box, stakeholders subgrid that you find on lead and opportunity. It only looks at the "contact" entity, but i really need to select either an "account" or "contact".

We have only custom Stakeholder fields in our implementation, I don't see any out of the box entries.  No matter, you can still switch to a custom entity .  You can either create a custom entity with two lookups (one for Accounts and one for Contacts) then use business rules to hide one or the other, or you could try and use a Custom Activity that has a multi-entity lookup (Regarding).   So it's possible to do most of what you want, but it is not as elegant as a single lookup.

By default, CRM only allows single entity lookups on most fields.  Only some special system level ones have the ability to do multi-entity lookups (Customer, Regarding, Owner, etc.).  You may be able to hack it to work using custom programming, but out of the box...there is no supported way to do this the way you are asking.

Here's a link to someone who was able to get it to work:  nothingnessit.wordpress.com/.../crm2013-multilookup-modify-the-code-crm2011

But the above is not supported and may not work long term, even if you are able to get it to work.
