2016 On-Premise Interactive Service / Engagement Hub Error After Upgrade

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 87

One of my organizations just gives me an error of "Sorry, something went wrong while initializing the app. Please try again, or restart the app" at "4/5 Downloading Customization" when accessing the hub.

I have turned on tracing and I am not sure what even look for in the logs.

Any advice? This issue is only present on some of my organizations. This issue is not present on an empty organization with no customizations.

    Hi,

Have you got some message like 'change storage limits for websites' during configuration ? . I have no issues with organizations with lot of customization. But i allowed app to change the storage limits. Try to do it with after clearing cache. Also, you can try with restarting all crm services.

I have seen this happen multiple times now. (So I share your problem.)

Once it happens I have then onwards struggled to get into the interactive hub for that organisation.

On one occasion I did find that going into articles and selecting the link to interactive hub from there helped. But the same workaround didn't work when I saw problem a second time. But might be worth a try.

I have seen this happen once in Firefox, and once you get the message it is hard to get rid of the message (atleast for that session). Try opening the interactive service hub url (https://<CRM Server>. crm#.dynamics.com/engagementhub.aspx) in Chrome and see whether you get the same message.

I looked into the error when I got this using Firebug and it is because of localStorage. This is what I did to get rid of the error, when I initially got it in Firefox.

    1. Opened the ISH url in Chrome -> Everything worked

    2. Cleared Private data in Firefox

    3. Opened the ISH url in Firefox -> Everything worked.

The default localStorage size is 5MB for Chrome and Firefox, and so you might be able to get everything working by just clearing data from the browser (Ctrl+Shift+Del).

Thanks for the tip on Firebug, I was able to locate the actual error message. I have tried various browsers, different computers, different user accounts, increasing the size of the storage, nothing yet. I have the non working solution replicated across multiple organizations on two separate servers as its a project specific organization tracking different data (both servers upgraded from 2015). Just by opening a new tab I can load the hub just fine from a different organization containing different solutions.

    Really quite odd.

    Here is the error message.

Did you try clearing the private data or open the ISH url in Incognito mode in Chrome? I haven't experienced a scenario where the ISH doesn't work outright. Try logging this with MS Support if this is a persistent issue.

Yes, I have tried following the URL directly. This is an IFD on premise deployment. I will see about contacting Microsoft. I have never used Microsoft support before.

It seems to be an known issue, I normally clear out my browser cache and reopen the site.

I also get this failure on multiple CRM Online instances. Occasionally I can get it to work, but it's very brief and have to switch to different browsers. Clearly this is not ready for prime time.

Try a different browser. For me it wouldn't load in IE 11 but worked fine first time in Chrome 46.0.2490.71 m, even after clearing cache etc.

Suspect there is also a security setting in CRM that needs to be enabled to trigger the download of the elements..

Dear Microsoft - If you read this could you please provide a link to the hopefully concise, 'clear' documentation as to exactly how this works under the hood to give admins and techs a clue as to what to look for when it doesn't... which appears to be a frequent and somewhat random occurrence.. Searched implementation guide and found nothing..

The generic Something Went Wrong Message Contact the Administrator message is great, unless you are an Admin and still don't know where to look..... (:-<)
