GP implementation project plan

Hello everyone

Where can I find a very comprehensive GP implementation project plan quickly please?

I need it to describe each step of the implementation from the point of installing the server, installing GP, creating DBs, completing module setups, importing masterfiles, importing data etc. etc.

 Many thanks for your help!

Louella

Your best shot would be Microsoft Sure Step Implementation Methodology. Go to Partnersource and Download the latest installation.

    Hi Janakiram!

Thanks for suggestion however Im not a partner therefore cannot access the plan through partnersource. Do you have a copy of it to send to me please?

Are there any other suggestions or formulated project plans that can be availed to me?

    Loells,

I'm not sure if i can send you a copy as I do not know if it conflicts the Partner Obligations. What I can tell you is to send an E-mail to David Musgrave. He might probably help you on this. His E-mail address is

    David.Musgrave@online.microsoft.com

    Good Luck

    Re: GP implementation project plan

There is a GP installation and administration course available online, printed or over the web.

Also the manuals included on the installation CD are pretty good as well.

But its not something I would recommend doing on your own.

Get a certified partner to help....

    Re: GP implementation project plan

These kind of questions always puzzle me... I have not been ever able to use the same implementation plan in my 13 years of experience at any two clients. The reason is pretty simple: each client requirement is different. A cookie-cutter approach to ERP software implementation is a recipe for disaster.

    Dear Sir,

The point is that person in discussion have no idea about project plans in MSGP. It seems to be that he is working for the first time and I can assume that he's got enough sense to develop a plan by just seeing a sample in perspective of his own situation there.

Agreed. "....A cookie-cutter approach to ERP software implementation is a recipe for disaster" BUT so are assumptions!!! By now your years of experience should have taught all of you/us that so please dont do it.

These forums are here to help, support, learn, spark creativity so posts about the poster or why the person in question  wanted/ needed the project plan in the first place is not helpful. If you read my initial post, I did say I needed the project plan "quickly" so something must have taken place.

Atta - I will take you up on your offer to provide me with a project plan so will contact you by email. Thank you!

    Play nicely boys!!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: GP implementation project plan

    Louella,

No need to burn bridges... it's hard to guess what are the intentions of posters in a newsgroup. "Quickly" does not necessarily equate to an intention nor does it provide an entry point to understand what the urgency is all about. For example, if you would have clarified that you needed a sample GP implementation project plan for an implementation in, say, a construction project I would have been more than glad to supply you with one, but this was not the case. Rather, you made a very generic request, that frankly, I have seen many many times over the years and these types of requests are what make most of us hesitant to supply this type of info. You also made the wrong assumptions about my post and even took it down the wrong path.

    Good luck with your project!
