CrmWRPCTokenKey is expired - Asynch Services restart not fixing the problem

Hello everyone,

We are ran into a key generation problem this morning. This not a first for us and usually, we restart the CRM Asych Services (maintenance) on the CRM server hosting the asynch services. We then issue an IISReset on the server hosting the rest of the CRM services.

Normally, this does the trick and resolves the problem. But not this morning. CRM is still running, the key seems to have been renewed (token is valid for a month), but we are getting (a lot of this message :

Current key (KeyType : CrmWRPCTokenKey) is expired. This can indicate that a key is not being regenerated correctly. Current Key : CrmKey(Id:XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX, ScaleGroupId:00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000, KeyType:CrmWRPCTokenKey,  etc, etc, etc.

I know I could use the Microsoft.Crm.Tools.WRPCKeyRenewal.exe /R, but since we are running CRM front-end services and async services on 2 different machines, I am not quite sure where I should run this command.

Does anyone have a pointer on this?

We are running CRM 2011 Rollup 16 on a Windows Server 2008R 64bit.

Thank you,

Éric

1-Make sure "Microsoft CRM Asynchronous Processing Service" is running.(start>run type services.msc)

    2-Execute Microsoft.Crm.Tools.WRPCKeyRenewal.exe with parameter /R ( Microsoft.Crm.Tools.WRPCKeyRenewal.exe /R ) from

    :\ \Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Tools

Also make sure you restart both Async services .

    Hi Chitra,

Thank you for your quick answer. Unfortunately, it's not working better. In fact, the same error message are still stacking up.

We got same kind of error message logged in our event viewer and above steps solved issue in our environment.

    Chitra,

Like I mentioned earlier, ii is not the first time we encounter this error. But it's the first time that this solution does not work.

The next step might just be to restart the server. If that's the case, this would really bug me out because I would end up not having a real solution form my problem.

    Thank you,

    Hi Eric,

The error "Current key (KeyType : CrmWRPCTokenKey) is expired. This can indicate that a key is not being regenerated correctly." One of our customers had the same error message and using Microsoft.Crm.Tools.WRPCKeyRenewal.exe /R was also no solution.

I have solved the issue by following the steps explained in the KB article: "Performance is slow if the AsyncOperationBase table becomes too large in Microsoft Dynamics CRM" support.microsoft.com/.../968520.

Can you verify if following this KB article helped fixing your problem?

    Hi Philip,

Thank you for your suggestion. I check the AsyncOperationBase table and it doesn't seem very large to me (655 000 entries, for about 1,1G of space). What's your take on an AsyncOperationBase table of that size? Does it seem abnormally large?

FYI, we opened a case at MS. And I am about to contact the support guy. I'll keep you posted.

    Thank you,

    éric

    Hi Eric,

The size of the AsyncOperationBase table doesn't seem extremely large for a situation when you have never cleaned this table. The size can be an issue but this depends on many factors for example the hardware you use.

It contains many records so I would still recommend following the steps from the KB article about cleaning and maintaining the AsyncOperationBase table. The table is known for the possible issues it can cause.

If its possible, let me know the out come from MS Support.

    Hello Eric,

Please try to verify the service account that you are using for async services.

Try to re-enter the credentials or try to change the service account to network services (if custom service account is present) or vice versa.

    Hope this helps.

    Eric,

Were you able to resolve your issue? We seem to be experiencing the same scenario, except we recently upgraded from 2015 to 2016

    Following.

I'm having the exact same error, but after reverting to a backed-up VMWare server with CRM 2016 installed.

    Things I have tried:

    • Microsoft.Crm.Tools.WRPCKeyRenewal.exe /R
    • Restart Microsoft Dynamics CRM Asynchronous Processing Service (this is the only async service)
    • Restart Microsoft Dynamics CRM Sandbox Processing Service
    • Reset Async Account Credentials
    • Delete and recereate Organizations
    • IISReset
    • Reboot server

    Nothing is working.
