Importing data (override existing data)

Hi,

I'm trying to import data in CRM 4.0 but I have been getting the following error:

The product ID conflicts with an existing product id.

I unticked the "enable duplicate detection" but still the same result. The senario is that, I got a product list and all I need to do is update the prices. so is there a better way to override the existing product list.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi Maan,

When you unticked the "Enable Duplicate Detection" then you can't create the Duplicate Detection role against the Product entity.

But the error throw by the CRM system when you create the product with the duplicate product number. So you need to make sure that the Product Number must be unique when you create the new product in the CRM.

As per your requirement, we have a add on which create and update the product and their price in CRM by the external file. For more information you can check the following Url.

    Thanks!

I haven't used this with Products, but this procedure works for other entities in CRM.

Take the necessary precautionary measures prior to importing any records (back-ups and testing when/where appropriate).

Use Advanced Find and set-up a filter for the products to be altered, add the appropriate columns for the data you need to update.

Export the Advanced Find to Excel as a Dynamic Worksheet.  Unhide the GUID column and Cut/Paste this into a new column A.

Make your changes to the worksheet (you can't update look-up fields), Save As a CSV and import.

When you import, CRM should recognize your header and mapping should be automatic.  Verify that the "Enrich" checkbox is checked (this is the key to updating versus creating new) and continue with the import.

    Hi people,

It's seems we're having the same problem.

Our need is to enrich/update one atribute for some records. And it's not an lookup attribute.

We tried the steps described by Mike S, however, it doesn't work.

We get a message like this: "The system can't create a mapping for a system atribute. IsSystem 1".

It's seems to be with the GUID.

In our tests, the configuration is automatic mapping.

If you guys have any tip, please give us a help.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Our problem happens only with the LEAD entity.

With Contacts, for example, no problem. It was easy to do it.

Does anybody know why with the LEAD it doesn't work?

    Tks!
