Sales Goals connected with activities

ReportReport
Posted on by

I have created some goals for my salesteam and I have created two different goals metrics, one that counts on appointments and one that counts on phone calls.

So when I then create a appointment and set that goal to "Lars" its working fine. But when I then create another appointment and want to set that to "Lars" goal I get a error that says: "The record is already assoiciated with another record"

Then i create a custom report (SSRS report) there i can view for every single salesperson how many appointments and phone calls they have done and what company they have met.

Is there any way to accomplish this? I have tried to create a middle entity and create relationships but it doesnt work.

Thanks for your reply.

Can you explain what you mean, or what you are doing, or trying to do when you say "I then create another appointment and want to set that to "Lars" goal"?

Goal Metrics measure things based on properties such as the owner, when they took place, and their status (each of these things helps to decide which Goal "bucket" a record belongs in, and whether it counts towards Actual or In-Progress).

You should not have to do anything to set a record to appear on a Goal, other than to fill in the details correctly and assign it to the right user.

So what I want to do is this: I have a salesteam. And I as salesmanager wants to have a report over all the salespersons as you can see in the picture. When I then click on a name I get all the details about how many appointments and phonecalls that person have done under a week. And can also see subject, goal start date and end date and also what goal target and actual. What company they have contacted and status. So every time a salesperson book a new appointment, it will count on the goal target.

But I only get one appointment and one phonecall for each salesperson because I added a subgrid on the appointment form from the goals, but when i try to create one more appointment on the same goalowner, i get that error. So now I can only have one appointment on one goalowner at the time as you can see in the report

As you can see in the second picture i have the subgrid on the appointment form and there i can add a goal for that owner on the activity but as said before i can only add one record. Othwerwise i get this error:2604.Namnl_F600_s.png

I hope this is not to hard to get what i want to accomplish. Or can I accomplish this in another way where i can measure the salespersons goals with how many appointments and phonecalls they have done?

    Thanks for your help.

I figured it out. I created a middle entity and created 1:N relationship between appointments, phonecalls and goal. Then i put the custom entity as a subgrid on the appointment and phonecall form.

You don't need a middle entity. You don't need any extra relationships between Goals and anything else.

You just need to create a Goal Metric for the entity you are trying to count (such as Appointment).

If you want to build a report that lists the actual Appointments that make up that Goal, you could use the joins from Appointment > Goal Metric > Goal, but to be honest if you are build a report with SSRS you could do all of this without the Goals anyway I would expect (but they might make it easier).

So how could i accomplish that in the ssrs without the goals and still get the same result as i have now?

I have created goal metrics against appointments and phone calls that count. then in my ssrs report i created a database thats connects with crm. and i have the datasets to get the correct information as you can see in the previous picture.
