User Defined Fields

Hello,

I have taken over administration of GP as the previous administrator left the company.  He had set-up user defined fields on the customer card.

He created a drop down box with a description, when I view the data in RM00101 only a number is displayed.  There must be a table somewhere that links the description in the drop down box to the number in RM00101.

Can anyone tell me where I can find this?

Thank you!

Joe

Thank you all for your responses - they were all very helpful.  I used profiler to see what tables were being hit, and it turns out that the data was coming from a table by a third party add on.

    Hi,

In Addition to Leslie, He may be hardcoded using Modifier and VBA.

If it is modified window then go to modifier and check the field properties. Using VBA he may assign the modifier local field value to Userdefined fields.

    Thanks

    Re: User Defined Fields

    Hi Joe,

Richard gives good advice, but I have a list of things you could look at if a custom table wasn't used. I'm suggesting the DUOS table could have been used.

    1. Does the screen name (Customer Maintenance) have a dot before or after the name?

    2. Does the DUOS table contain any data? In the company database it's table SY90000.

    3. If you look at the contents of the dynamics.set file (in the gp folder of the workstation) does it have any application listed that you don't recognize as a standard GP module?

    4. You said the RM00101 table only contains a number. Is it a variety of numbers? Which field are you referring to in the RM00101 table?

    5. Is this field used on any reports?

This sort of thing is normally pretty easy to track down.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Sounds like a custom table was added. The AR customer user defined fields are just defined as char(21). USERDEF1 and USERDEF2. I would run SQL Profiler was using the dropdown box to see what tables are being hit.
