Hey Everyone,
We will be doing inventory soon and we want to lock down all items so they can not be used. Besides going in and blocking all items is there any other way/ways or best practice for this?
Thanks!
Thanks we went with this approach and no issues
Ty for the suggestion
The method Mr Bruvik provided works great. We had a similar requirement but for our daily count. We used 2 method
1) At the beginning I had a Configuration Package setup only for Item No and Block field. Then I filter that package based on items we wanted to count and then download, change the Block and upload back. Then when team was ready to post their journal I revert the change.
2) Our partner created small development that let us to block all items in Inventory Journal then unblock them. This way our inventory team could block and unblock without configuration package.
Thanks
I think that best practice is to inform your users that you are doing inventory and tell them not to do any inventory related posting while you do the inventory.
Then it is best practice to make the time span from you have created the physical inventory journal to the point where you actually do the counting as short as possible.
I have never had any of my customers block all their items during inventory.
If you want to make sure nothing is posted while you do you inventory you can adjust the "Allow posting from" and "Allow posting to" in the General ledger setup.
If you have users that must be able to do finance posting you can set alternative dates for them in the user setup.
You can find a step by step guide for doing your inventory here:
