Lead Management in Wave2

Hello,

please can someone explain me the sense of autopopulating contact and account fields on lead form after selecting existing contact and/or account?

If you previously filled in data on the lead form the values will be overwritten. If you change data here this has no effect to existing data except the lead you are working on. If you change data on a contact after you selected this on the lead form it has no effect to the filled fields on the lead.

Am I right? And if, what should this feature be used for?

btw.

If you try to remove the fullname field of the contact on the lead form you will get an error, saying "getVisible" cannot be called for an object that does not exist. (the professionals check for "not null" before calling a member) If you want to hide it, it still appears on the form no matter in what section you place it.

Any information on this is welcome.

Cheers,

Torsten

    Hi Torsten,

The enhancement was introduced to expedite data entry for lead creation when the seller is working with an existing contact/account.

The design was kept simple to avoid data loss for any user entered data and hence auto population logic doesn’t overwrite if fields were previously auto populated or data was manually entered.

Do you have more details on the business scenarios being impacted?

You can also directly submit your Sales app specific feedback on the Ideas portal: experience.dynamics.com/.../

    Hi Torsten,

I believe you are referring to these new enhancements:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365-release-plan/2019wave2/dynamics365-sales/simplified-lead-management-experience

These were made to optimize the experience and filling more rapidly lead-related information, especially during lead creation.

If this is getting in the way of your business scenarios, I think the best thing to do is to reach out to support, here:
