Hello,

Is there a batch process solution for Dynamics 365 Sales app that will run scheduled processes (workflows mostly)  i.e. everyday? (not on activity trigger)

Thanks in advance,

Mariusz

    Hi Mariusz,

There is no such functionality OOTB, but there are a few approaches/workaround you can try. You will need to have some customization and extending skills.

    1. Two workflows calling each other: http://www.powerobjects.com/2016/07/11/setting-up-recurring-workflows-in-dynamics-crm-2016/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PowerobjectsMicrosoftCrmBlog+%28PowerObjects+Microsoft+CRM+Blog%29
    2. Take advantage of OOTB bulk delete job: this one is my favorite.
      1. Create a custom entity: optionally add fields to store your process configuration, for example, what records to pass to the process.
      2. Create a bulk deletion job: Settings > Data Management > Bulk Record Deletion. Here you create a deletion job to delete the above custom entity on your schedule.
      3. Create a CRM workflow do any kind of process on delete event of the custom entity. If the logic is complicated, you can put it in plugins or custom workflow activities.
    3. Use an open source solution: http://alexanderdevelopment.net/post/2013/05/18/scheduling-recurring-dynamics-crm-workflows-with-fetchxml/
    4. And some more options like writing custom console application, using SSIS package, and lately we have Microsoft Flow and Azure functions: https://salimadamoncrm.com/2017/05/09/recurring-jobs-strategies-for-dynamics-crm365/ . However, these ones are quite complex to achieve and for bigger scale solution.

    Hope it helps.
