Creating a Dashboard View of Notes

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport

I want to create a quick view of Notes.

The Notes entity is in Advanced Find but for some reason is not available for selection as an entity in Dashboards.  I know I can create a report to mimic the Notes Advanced Find and display that in Dashboards but it is a clunky way of doing it and still involves the very slow process of running the report.

CRM 2013 on premeses.

Thanks.

    Hi Richard,

You are seeing correct functionality with it not being available as a Record Type in the List selection for Dashboards. I did some skimming around the Forums and it looks like some people have done it before but requires doing an SSRS report, so is above my head. But Aiden in this Forum Thread seemed to tackle what you were trying to do: https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/t/173665.

    I hope this helps!

The best way to achieve this is to create a report and then show the report within an iframe or a dashboard.

Thanks Curtis for your reply.  Aiden's response is relevant and I will consider bringing it to our supplier's attention.  It is still a curious anomaly on behalf of Microsoft to leave out Notes in Dashboards though.

Thanks Syed for your reply.  As you indicate a Notes report wrapped in an iframe in Dashboards does indeed work.  However (a) the user still has to run the report which can take up to a minute and (b) once the report is run it is, by its nature, not interactive and users can't drill through the results. It is still a curious anomaly on behalf of Microsoft to leave out Notes in Dashboards.
