Label is too long. Does not fit in the display name.

Hi,

CRM Display name length is 50 characters and "label" length is 100 characters.

Our current project has fields which are basically questions and are well above 100 characters. I know we can increase width of a label but is there anyway you can increase the length of the field to display more than 100 characters?

Please also suggest alternatives.

Thanks,

AJ

There isn't anyway of doing this other than html using web resources . See community.dynamics.com/.../replacing-a-field-label-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm-with-an-html-web-resource

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

As Scott said, you can't change the length of the label. However, you could set the label to something short and put the full question in the Description for the field, which is multiline. When the user is on the record form and hovers over the label, they'll get a tooltip with the full question.

Hope this helps! If so, I would greatly appreciate it if you could mark this as the verified answer.

    Thanks! Aiden

The description field has a 200 character limit. This is what it would look like with a 200 character tooltip (pretty clean, I think).

Thanks scott and Aiden for the alternatives !!

Yes Aiden , that sounds perfect for what we need especially because we want to avoid additional customizations.

Adjust “Field Label Position” in the Section Properties to be set to “Top”.

Is there a way to iterate this implementation to apply to any number of labels on the form? I have a form with 100 labels that need to be longer than 100 characters. Could I use getElementByType instead of ById to apply the extended field label property to all 100 labels in the same HTML web resource? The maximum number of web resources on a page is 50 and this solution assumes I will add an iFrame for each label. I predict performance issues in addition to the 50 web resource limitation.
